Celestial Bodies£2100
The Sun and the Moon
Astronomy studies the celestial bodies and the wonders of the cosmos, but none are more captivating than the sun and the moon. "The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets." The sun, with its powerful light, governs the day, bringing warmth, energy, and life. It is a constant observer of our world. In contrast, the moon—quiet and reflective—illuminates the night, holding the mysteries and emotions we keep hidden. Together, they symbolise the balance between the outward and the inward, the seen and the unseen. Each individual piece starts out as a perfect square of porcelain. The surface distortion is achieved with a unique blend of porcelain with origami. The raw porcelain is press moulded onto a fabric origami form and the hollow stem attached. Work is unglazed and fired to 1250’C. Can be hung horizontally, vertically, or offset, with the sun and moon aligned. Farrow & Ball Hague Blue and white backgrounds with a dove grey semi-circle and a hand-mixed pale orange semi-circle. Total size: 120 x 92cm. Edged with 44mm oak. |
