Dark Side of the Moon£400
The hemisphere on the far side of the Moon is known as the dark side of the Moon. It does not refer to "dark" as in the absence of light, but rather "dark" as in "unkown'. The Apollo 8 astronauts were the first humans to see the far side in person when they orbited the Moon in 1968.
Each piece is made painstakingly by hand - the raw porcelain is coloured with body stain, then pressed onto an origami mould to create the ripple. Size 49.5x49.5cm, edged with oak. |
