Moody, atmospheric and constantly evolving as the light changes.
Completed in January, the month of the Wolf Moon.
​My work stems from a fascination with light and shadow, the passage of time and how the rhythm of our high-tech, twenty first century life is still shaped by the moon, as it was for our ancestors.
Each individual piece started out as a perfect square, the surface distortion is achieved with a unique blend of porcelain with origami. The raw porcelain is coloured with increasingly high percentages of body stain, then press moulded onto a fabric origami form. The hollow stem is formed separately and attached while the clay is still damp. Work is unglazed and fired to 1250’C.
