Wolf MoonSOLD
Moody, atmospheric and constantly evolving as the light changes.
Completed in January, the month of the Wolf Moon. My work stems from a fascination with light and shadow, the passage of time and how the rhythm of our high-tech, twenty first century life is still shaped by the moon, as it was for our ancestors. Each individual piece started out as a perfect square, the surface distortion is achieved with a unique blend of porcelain with origami. The raw porcelain is coloured with increasingly high percentages of body stain, then press moulded onto a fabric origami form. The hollow stem is formed separately and attached while the clay is still damp. Work is unglazed and fired to 1250’C. Watch the video below to see me making pieces for Wolf Moon. Can be hung horizontally or vertically. Farrow & Ball Hague Blue and white backgrounds with a dove grey circle. Total size: 120 x 92cm. Edged with 44mm oak. |
